SAUGUS — One person was killed after they were stabbed at the Kowloon Restaurant Saturday night, Essex County District Attorney Paul Tucker’s office said.

The person, whose name was not immediately released Sunday morning, was found with a knife wound in the parking lot after 9 p.m. Sunday. They were taken to Massachusetts General Hospital, where they were pronounced dead, Tucker’s office said in a statement.

It was not immediately clear what precipitated the incident. The stabbing remains under investigation by Saugus and State Police.

The stabbing marks the second violent incident at the iconic Route 1 landmark in less than two weeks, after a brawl on Thanksgiving eve. Four people were charged in the aftermath of that incident, including two 19-year-olds.
